Theme settings

Global controls to customize the look, feel, and behavior of your Shopify store.

Theme settings allow you to adjust global options that affect the entire theme. From here, you can customize things like colors and other general design elements such as container width, border radius, and more.

We’ve intentionally kept the theme settings simple and minimal, so you don’t get overwhelmed or waste time adjusting unnecessary options that don’t have a real impact on your store.

To open the theme settings, first access the Shopify theme editor. Then click on the cog (⚙️) icon, as shown in the screenshot below.

We’ve divided the theme settings into clear groups to make them easier to navigate. Let’s go through each group one by one.

Colors

Here you can adjust the colors of your entire Shopify store. Shopify has recently introduced color schemes, which is a very effective way to manage your store’s colors globally.

Instead of setting colors individually for every section, you create a few color palettes (color schemes), each with its own set of colors for backgrounds, text, buttons, and more. Then, across different sections of your store, you simply select one of these color schemes. This means you only need to define your colors once, and everything stays consistent.

The first color scheme acts as your main color scheme, so it should usually be your base palette. As shown in the screenshot below, you can configure colors for the background, text, buttons, and other elements.

There is also an Accent color setting, which acts as the primary highlight color for the palette. For example, the cart badge in the header or the active menu item uses this color to stand out from the regular text color.

General

Here you can adjust various global settings related to your store. As mentioned earlier, we’ve focused on including only the most important options—settings that genuinely impact the look and feel of your store.

These settings apply across the entire theme. For example, changing the Border radius value will affect all elements that use it, such as buttons, cards, and images. With just a few adjustments, you can quickly align the theme with the desired vibe and style of your brand.

Typography

Here you can change the fonts used across your Shopify store. All available fonts come from the Shopify Fonts Libraryarrow-up-right, which you can freely use on your store.

We generally recommend choosing a custom font only for Headings to match your brand’s vibe, while keeping the Body font set to the default sans-serif. This approach helps improve page speed, since only one custom font needs to be loaded. That said, you’re free to choose any font combination that best fits your store.

If you’d like to fine-tune the appearance of your headings, you can adjust the Heading base font size setting, as shown in the screenshot below.

As mentioned above, all fonts available here are served directly from Shopify’s CDN. This is the recommended way to load fonts, as they typically load faster than fonts served from external services like Google Fonts. If you prefer to use your own custom fonts instead, we’ve included a separate guide that walks you through that process. Check out the Custom Fonts guide

As the group name suggests, this is where you upload your store logo. The logo will appear in the header on both desktop and mobile, and it may also be used in other areas such as structured data (required for rich results in search engines).

It’s important to note that you don’t need to resize your logo manually. Shopify automatically scales it based on the logo height setting, which you can configure in the Header section settings.

In addition to the main logo, you can upload a small square version of your logo to be used as the browser favicon. You don’t need to resize this image either, but you should ensure its proportions are perfectly square.

As shown in the guide below, there are also settings for the Transparent header. Uploading a logo in this area will automatically enable the transparent header feature on your store. If you’d like more details, we’ve created a separate guide that explains how this feature works.

Product cards

This group contains the most settings, and that’s because product cards are one of the most important parts of your store. We know they often need to be adjusted precisely to match your needs and design preferences.

Please note that these settings affect all product cards across the theme, including product cards in sections like Featured products and on collection pages.

Below are some of the most important settings you should be aware of:

Color scheme Select the color scheme for your product cards (as explained in the Colors section above). In most cases, the first (base) color scheme is the recommended choice.

Style Choose between Default or Card.

  • Default provides a clean, minimal look.

  • Card displays products as cards with borders and shadows. Select the option that best fits your store’s design.

Title truncate A useful option if you have long product titles. Truncating titles helps maintain a clean layout, especially on mobile. Choose between None (show full title), 1 line, or 2 lines.

Show color swatches Enable this option to display small color swatches on product cards. Note that your products must already use the color swatch logic for these to appear.

Image ratio Choose Adapt to preserve the original image proportions. For a more consistent and uniform layout, we usually recommend Square or Portrait.

Sale badge If your products are on sale, select how the sale badge should be displayed: percentage or value. Choose None if you don’t want to show a sale badge. This badge will only appear on products with a Compare at price set.

Custom badge – metafield Specify the exact metafield namespace/key to enable custom badges such as New, Hot, or Trending. If you’d like more details, we’ve created a separate guide that explains how to set this up.

Add to cart form – Form style This is an important setting that controls how customers interact with products directly from product cards. Our theme offers more flexibility here than many other themes. You can choose between:

  • Options selector – Allows customers to select product options (such as Color or Size) directly from the product card, similar to the product page.

  • Variant selector – Displays a single selector that combines options into variants (for example: Blue – Medium).

  • Quick view – Does not show options directly. Instead, customers click a Quick view button to see product details and add the item to their cart.

Here you can add the social media links for your store. Simply enter the links for the platforms you want to display and leave the others blank.

For each social network, make sure to add the full URL, for example: https://www.facebook.com/shopify

Once added, the corresponding social media icons will automatically appear in various parts of the theme, such as the footer and the mobile menu.
